Non-urgent advice: Please note

Medicines are not in short supply. Do not order all of your medicines every time.

Tell us your preferred pharmacy for prescriptions.

In order to allow us to issue the correct medication we ask patients to give the reception staff the details of the tablet, cream etc, that they need.

It is important that you have all the relevant information to hand when ordering your prescriptions, name of drug requested, strength of drug, how often you take it, name of the doctor who usually prescribes this for you and the disposal – which chemist, collect or envelope. This helps us to offer you a fast and efficient service.

Online Prescription Ordering System

Patient Access is a service provided by our clinical system that allows you to view a list of your repeat medication and request repeat prescriptions online.

  • Beat the queues
  • No waiting on the phone
  • Quick and convenient
  • 24/7 Access
  • Free mobile app

You can register for Patient Access by firstly visiting your practice in person and requesting a registration letter which will enable you to set up a full account. This needs to be requested when you visit the practice and will require identification. Once you have the letter you can then enter the details from the letter into the registration form. This is found by visiting Patient Access.

Ordering Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions can be requested in the following ways:

  • Call the prescription line on 01655 883922 between the hours of 9.00am and 10.30am, or 2.00pm and 5.00pm

Please note, due to confidentiality we are no longer able to take prescription requests at the reception desk.

Remember to ensure you order in plenty of time before your medication runs out.

Contraceptive Pill Requests

Practice Nurse Vicki Smaller will deal with all routine contraceptive pill prescriptions and reviews. Once established on a suitable pill we will ask you to make an appointment for review and further prescription as well as discussing any issues you may have concerning this medication. We also offer other forms of contraception and can discuss this at your review.

If the check up is satisfactory, you will receive two six month prescriptions for the contraceptive pill from the nurse. One can be taken to the pharmacy immediately and one should be kept and taken to the pharmacy when you only have one month supply left.

As soon as you have only one month supply left, make an appointment with the practice nurse for a contraceptive review so there is plenty of time before you run out.

In an emergency we will issue a short supply or we can get a copy of a lost prescription but we will always ask you to come back to the nurse for the annual review when it is due.

Contraceptive pills may be prescribed be in the generic form rather than by a brand name.

CMS: Serial Prescriptions

A serial prescription lasts for 24, 48 or 56 weeks and your pharmacy will dispense it for you every 8 weeks as normal.
How it works:
We review managed repeat prescriptions within the practice and this is where we can identify repeat medications which are suitable for a serial prescription that you can collect directly from your chosen pharmacy.

When a serial prescription has been issued you will be able to collect from your usual community pharmacy which we will have a record of where you prefer, when you require a further supply of your medicines. The pharmacy will ask you to sign a registration form for this service at the time of your first collection, if you have not already done so.

You will no longer need to order a repeat prescription from the GP practice for the items included on your serial prescription.

We will also let you know of any medications that we deem not suitable for a serial prescription so you can order these as normal. This information will be giving to you in form of a letter which will be attached to your serial prescription at you’re chosen pharmacy. We will let you know before via a text message letting you know that we have identified you as a suitable candidate for this service.
